This Flow Charting
software will let you construct very presentable
Family Trees. Using the methods displayed in the
Samples Directory of this program you can display
many families on a single page and using large fan
fold paper (11 x 14 7/8) you can display even more
of your tree. This particular software seems to
display the contents of family software in the best
manner available.
One of the big
improvements for Trees is the addition of special
templates for displaying the minor family members as
"side issues" rather than main line. This method
lets you concentrate the tree on parents (displaying
the siblings as secondary) until you get to your
family.
To get to these
new templates, click on the menu bar of any
template, as shown below:

Clicking the Menu
Bar will display a list of available templates for
this program. Also listed is the new directory
"Genealogy". Click on this directory.
A list of 6
templates will be displayed. For this help item,
please click on GenTimes10.

The listing is for
GenTimes which means Genealogy - Times New Roman
Font 10 point. The other listings are for different
point sizes in Times New Roman and then 3 templates
drawn for Arial font. You will have to try each of
these out to ascertain the best way to present your
family tree. Remember to change the font and size of
your Text Manager each time you change templates -
they are very sensitive to the font and size.

Below is what we
call a "rake". It holds a certain amount of names
(this one shows 8) with alignment markers. Like any
shape you are allowed to stretch the shape, however,
in this case it is better to leave it at default.
This is a very efficient method of containing family
names because it can be moved around as a unit while
building a tree.

This rake is for 8
names and it will hold some amount of data after the
name. One method is to let the data go to the next
line and blot out the next line's marker with a
shape that you make with a white border and a white
center. If you wanted 8 people and wanted to follow
this advice - you would select a rake with 9
markers.
The rake shown
attaches at the top to a horizontal line - and the
names will start at the marker and extend right.
You
can see rakes that are similar only extend to the
left. Other rakes are attached by bringing a line to
the rake. |
